Bonnet & Booties

I have some vintage handkerchiefs that I've been holding onto for this sweet bonnet tutorial, but came across Singer's Sewing For Children with a section on heirloom sewing. I'll probably still transform the hankies, but wanted to try my hand at making this one from an old bed sheet I have.

I loved the trim on the sheets and wanted to use it for something sweet.

I think this will be just that on our little girl!

I also sewed up this pair of kimono booties to go with the itty bitty dress I made the other day.

Along with my favorite upcycled bed sheet, I used some blue scrap linen I had on hand. I had started out using Anna Maria Horner's Cute As a Button Booties pattern, but it wasn't turning out as well as I'd hoped. So I searched around and found this free pattern download. It was much simpler and I'm loving the results!
