Skyler and I were invited for a special tour of the new South Texas Heritage Center at the local Witte Museum as part of a Mommy and Me Blogger meetup this past week, and I thought I'd share a peek around at what we saw. (That's Skyler holding the door above--isn't he turning into a gentleman?--psst, Monday's his birthday!).
For those of you not from San Antonio, the Witte's exhibits focus mainly on natural history and science, and have recently expanded with their new South Texas Center. It also has a science treehouse
for kids, making it one of the most family-friendly museums in town.
The South Texas Heritage Center is housed in a beautiful new building adjoined to the historic Pioneer Hall. The center includes artifacts, interactive displays, live demonstrations (we learned all about natural rope-making and cattle branding--no cows were harmed), and actors dressed up in period costume talking to visitors and doing scheduled performances.
We also enjoyed lunch and the rest of the museum with some of my favorite local mama bloggers. The museum also generously gave us tickets to share with our readers!
So, one lucky local Maker Mama reader will win a set of four tickets to the Witte and the special Darwin exhibit
valid through Labor Day weekend. And 10 more of my bloggy friends are giving them away too--so up your chances even more by entering them all in one place from the Rafflecopter widget below. (To enter to win the tickets from me, be sure to +1 the Maker Mama Facebook box in the widget.)
The giveaway will be open until midnight Monday, August 20th and I'll announce the winner on Tuesday!
