To accessorize your own bowl, all you need is some yarn and a crochet hook. Here are the directions for both stitches:
Double Knot Stitch (The blue yarn)
Chain a multiple of 4 ch plus 2 long enough to stretch around bowl
Row 1:
One single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, *lengthen loop on hook to 1/2", draw up a new loop through the lengthened stitch, work 1 sc in space created between lengthened stitch and new loop*. Repeat steps between asterisks and you'll complete your double knot.
*Skip 3 chains, work 1 sc in next chain (this joins your double knot to the main chain), make 1 double knot.* Repeat steps between the last set of asterisks across the row, ending with a extra double knot.
Row 2:
Turn, *work 1 sc in center of next double knot, make 1 double knot.* Repeat across the row.
Row 3:
Turn, *chain 3, work 1 sc in center of next double knot.* Repeat across row and bind off at end.
Attach both ends of your crochet to form a band and slip it onto your bowl!
Open Checks Stitch (The lavender yarn)
Chain a multiple of 6 ch plus 3 long enough to wrap around bowl.
Row 1: sk 3 ch, 1 dc in each of next 2 ch, *ch 3, sk 3 ch, 1 dc in each of next 3 ch,* ch 3, sk 3 ch, 1 dc in last ch, ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Ch across entire row, with 3 ch in between open spaces, and 3 sc across the checks of previous row.
Bind off and attach ends to form band.
